Jesus Christ I cant drive
So I finally brought the car to the track....first time ever.
First run was awful 2.4 60ft, missed 2nd, missed 3rd. Ended up with a 15.9 at 91mph. Totally bugged out when the lights flashed.
Second run I actually got into the gears (although barely) and ended up 15.5@98mph with a...ready....
3.2 60 ft!!!! Hold the applause!
I just cannot launch this thing. Boost is instant, so 1st and 2nd gear just spin. I feather the clutch, I give partial throttle...its just so tough to find the balance between throttle and traction. Ugh. I need to practice, real bad. That 98mph run was with half throttle 1st and 2nds...is that about the mph I can expect if I actually hooked up and gave the car full throttle?
Car is a JRSCd GSR @ 6PSI making 214/150 w/Hondata. I suck at driving.

Holy ****, what did you do, keep the ebrake up? hehe.. You might want to try to launch the car so the tires wont spin instantly.. try to bogg off the line a little, and peg it off the rev limiter after first, to the give the car some momentum..I know it sounds stupid (bog and rev limiter), but the car will have forward momentum, and ultimately, that should reduce the violent tire spin

You'd do better coming off the line like you are in traffic, then roll into the throttle for the rest of first, grab second like you are driving with your mom in the car, easy with it, it WILL light up the tires if you let it, then bang gears the rest of the time.

Tires were Kumho 712's @ 25PSI with not much life left.
Basically, I feathered the clutch in 1st, took off almost like I was at a stoplight...feathered the clutch and hammered it when I figured I could catch traction, which I kind of did for a few thousand RPM. When I shifted into 2nd, instead of breaking loose (which I did like crazy on my 1st run) I only gave it maybe half throttle going into 2nd, then when I was comfortably in gear I gave it WOT. Pretty much babied 1st and 2nd.
Is that trap speed indicative of my time, or since my 60ft was ridiculous, and I didnt give it WOT in 1st and 2nd, I should trap higher? Thats really all Im worried about, what the car CAN do if I drive it right.
I couldnt avoid the water box either, if that makes a difference at all. I am inexperienced racing my car, so I cant wait to get back there and try some new things.

No sweat man, the first time I took mine to the track...15.5 @ 100, by the 3rd run i had it down. You said you couldnt avoid the water box? Did you do a quick little burn out to get the water off though? Id say your traps should be around 100 so you arent far off, should be good for high 13's with traction. Good luck, go next week and redeem yourself.
you should be running high 13's with that set up. launch low in the r's. like 3000 'ish. ride the clutch alittle and then quickly roll on it once you hook through 1st gear. i made 225 hp and 160'ish tq in my old gsr s/c'er set up and went 13.1 with average driving. i weighted about 2400 so you are about 300 lbs heavier and slightly less hp so high 13's should be your goal. keep practicing.
Interesting...basically, my method was to ride the **** out of the clutch. I revved to maybe 3k, then SLOWLY let out the clutch while easing into the gas. I watched a video, and it seriously looked like I took off from a stoplight. I need to actually LAUNCH the car. I will try more of a dump @ 3k, while still giving it some clutch.
I also had all my tools, some clothes, case of ATF for my GFs car, spare, etc, so I could have shaved some weight for sure. I was hoping for 100mph traps, really, thats all. I also couldnt avoid the waterbox, and I didnt do a burnout...Im learning
When I slam it into 2nd, should I give it full throttle or should I roll into the gas? If I go WOT, I slide all over the place. On my first run, I couldnt hook 2nd gear at all. I assume breaking loose is bad?

Hmm, I dont know if I saw you there or not?
I had a red GSR with CF hood and bronze wheels. I went with a few of my buddies, red gsx w/cf hood, black EG sedan with a Greddy kit, Red 240 w/SR20, etc..all of us ran like a blind one-legged midget carrying a sack of lead. Not very well.

Hey man I totally understand where you are coming from. I was just at Cecil county tonight and my lowest was a 14.2 @ 109mph
This is the first time I ever raced a boosted honda and its hard. I tried a bunch of things. My 60ft was around 2.5. I was using Azenis with 15psi of pressure. I can't get traction until 3rd gear then the car takes off. Any recommendations from the OG racers to help me out? I really need some stickier tires. I will probably go back with drag radials or slicks, but that Trap speed is good for 12's isn't it?

Low 13's at least.
Low 13's at least.
you probably needed to launch at idle with the torque you are making and roll into the throttle.
my old motor made 214/167..launching at idle with azenis at 33 psi i was able to cut 2.1's
i cut a 3.368 once.
launching at idle and shifting at 2000 rpm.
i was in 3rd gear at the 60' mark.

Plenty of good advice here so far. With more practice you will find whats comfortable and works for you. Good luck!
