dont cut it.. its not worth it in MOST cases.
for one thing.. if the car is ever going to race any Race series, some may not allow it in your class.

A while back I think Lawrence at Dynospot Racing had a drag car with the spare tire well cut out in his shop. You can try calling him and asking him about it. Although, this was a couple years ago.

you would think that by cutting the spare tire well it would help but the thing only weighs like 1 pound.

i was thinking about cutting it out and replacing it witha piece of sheet metal and an x-brace where the hole was

by cutting it, you may drop about 15lbs? on that spare tire area. but by putting a brace to make it as safe and rigid like before will add you another 5lbs.
All that work for 10lbs. We've cut up cars back in the day.. and it just wasnt worth it in the long run. Class rules, track rules change so often that it may affect the ability of the car to run at the track/racing series.

If you're going to cut it out, definitely put a thin piece of sheet metal in to replace it. Otherwise you're going to need a lot of "speed holes."

I cut mine out an replaced it with .032 alum. Depending on how far you cut,I was able to pull 70lbs or so.(including the gas tank, filler neck, lines, straps, etc.)I added a 5 gal. fuel cell and put gas in through the rear hatch.Ive done this to 4 other cars and the integ was able to lose 85 lbs but I went all the way to the front seats. Exospeed is right, you'll get hastled at almost every event you go to.I just did it cuz I wanted to go fast.214whp 141 tq.1870 lb eg=11.91 @ 113.

**** cutting that ****.... it makes the bottom of the car more flat and also aims the air, under the bumper, isntead of directrly into it.

the toe hook is way more important.

you can if it's covered and sealed. I personally prefer to leave it how it is though.
