If you have the opurtunity while stripping the interior out. try and see if anyone around you powder coats and have the inside sprayed your choice of color. this will cut down huge on sound. and gives it a really nice look.-pdang

take out everything that u dont need.

if ya didnt strip out the sound deading do that.

if ya want to get the undercoating off of the wheelwells you can get a wire wheel(put epoxy on it) let it get hard, than put that mother on the electric grinder. and get the undercoting off. it doenst take long, but makes a f-ing mess.

good luck with it.

thanks for the advice.. i already stripped most of the sound deadining material out last summer when i sprayed painted the interior Now im wanting to do it right. how much sanding and prepping is neccessary inside the car before paint is layed?

btw i removed the heater core, blower motor, all ducting, PS pump, lines, and resevoir... , radio, wipers (which i might have to put back for SFWD) all kinds of other stuff was removed prior to this... AC, rear wiper motor, power seat belts, rear seats, more than i can remember. the car wieghed 2350 last season im very anxious to see the new weight. most likely ill be adding to meet class requirements.

id say make sure the surface isnt "shiny" ya could take it down to bare metal..paint stripper may be your friend.. spray on and wash it off..

my whole car was blasted with differant types of material before the paint was layed on it.

Looks like you have been working hard on that.... that's the easy part though; the hard part is putting it back together.

yeah really, but im not even hating. there is a reason those cars dont go fast. ask anyone who has ever built one. if you decide to stick with it, know you are fighting an uphill battle AND make sure you read the rules before you just do random **** to the car.

Are you being for real Gordon or joking around? I know not many people build them but I can't think of a reason why.

Those chasiss are prone to flexing right? They have those framless windows that dont have much rigidity. The last fast one I've seen was Tony Fuchs DA way back when, lol. Good luck.

He's looking to build a fun and clean street car but just wants to make sure it will fit in SFWD class to race when it's convenient. Chris has done plenty of research on the chassis. Let's just say he wants to be different and enjoy's a challenge

you took the words out of my mouth. i dont want to be another EG. just something different. I dont see any thing holding the car back from low 11's. hell maybe even faster. and the SFWD thing is just for fun. no hard competition here.

unfortunately I just did what you did, and I say unfortunately b/c this was a project that started in January and I just got everything back together and running this past week....I stripped it down to little suspension, the steering column and e-brake...welded in the cage and painted inside, outside and engine bay...
As far as what you should do for the interior, be patient sand with 220 grit and take it down, not all the way to bare metal(never thought of powder coating, but that sounds like a good idea). I would have all the glass taken out, b/c you'll get a better paint job in the long run.
........keep the rule book with you and always look **** up before you just hack something off....let me gets pics and I will post.....GOD I LOVE HER!!!
