Default Slick and Rim Width sizing question

Ok, i was just curious of soemthing. I am currently running a 25x8x13 tire... The rim width size is 7.5.. I want to switch to 9 inch wide bogarts. Now im just curious if there is benefits to running a wider rim then slick.. Any benefits, downfalls or comments are welcome..

I would stick with a 8" rim...do not see what a 9" rim will do for you, when most slicks are either 8.5 or 8.7" wide.

Hi (SIXTYdashONE) The most command rim sizes in import drag racing are, 4" 6" 8" 10" and 14", now if you get into Dirt Track, Super Modified, Midget's, Formula Vee, Auto-Cross, this is a hole new world of racing. Now you say might want to go with the 9" rim size, my self I would go with the 8" rim size, that is what the 8/25-13 requires. Now if you go with the 9" rim size with the size of the 8/25-13 what is going to happen is, you are going to pull the center of the slick down and you are going to lose tracktion.

Thank You for listening.

He's talking about the width of the rim not the height. No need to step up to a 15" rim at all..Go with what John from M&H said 8" rim would be the best!!!

I do know one thing. A wider rim will limit tire growth. That may or may not be something you would want.

I agree with jay, but you have a habit of pulling bumpers off with 25's , , a 8 inch wide rim is perfect for up to 9 inch wide slick. Now that you got a whole bunch of opinions, go by some new blings..... or dubs what ever the term is now....

Yeah, I ripped my bumper off a few times with 25s and coilovers all the way up. Stick with 8".

Hey Jay, I guess you guys would no about using too wide a rim for the tire!! Let's just say that it works, but it's not safe...
