I learned the basics of driving on our 94 Explorer, then shortly after learned to drive our 89 Camry 5-speed. Since then I have never looked back, I hate auto tranny

i second that one! good luck. when i first learned to drive i was learning with one standard ('85 VW Scirrocco, uncle's) and one automatic ('93 Honda Accord LX aunt's). After that, had to have another honda to drive (screw VW) but it had to be an manual. once you get it down right, you'll wonder why people have autos.

now you need to learn
downshifting
heel and toe tech
burnouts
starting the car by poping the clutch
going uphill
more control on the car with 5sp.

Pick an empty road, drive along in 5th. Shift to 3rd, but as you engage the clutch, tap the gas for a moment so the engine matches revs with your road speed. Then the car won't lurch as you engage the clutch. When you can do that perfectly, then come back & talk about heel-&-toe.

my friends dad tought him manual in a parking ramp. not on the parking area, but the exit and entrance areas, going up and down. older s-10, he smoked that clutch.
burnout -- at idle, keep foot on the clutch, keep it is 1st gear, hit teh gas a few times ( up to about 4k rpm ) then release the clutch pedal and step on gas.

I drove my dads manual honda for a couple days last week while my car(auto) was in the shop. My second car is so going to be a manual. When I picked up my car I found myself looking for the clutch and preparing to reach for the stick.
