Default N/A and aftermarket rods

is it necessary to have aftermarket rods on a 200 - 230 hp N/a car?

Why not? I`d spend an extra $300 on a 6-10k motor.

i head rods can stretch at high rpms....if your going to be reving past 8500rpm i would sugest some aftermarket rods or shotpeening your stock rods with acl bearing and arp rod bolts

Not saying that it's impossible for them to stretch but I've been revving my motor to 10,000 on stock rods and experienced no problems.

Its not really that rods that stretch, its the rod bolts. Those are usually the weak point, especially LS,B20 rods. ARP rod bolts are a good investment are are cheap insurance. Stock rods are fine for most NA applications. With aftermarket rods, you usually have to run aftermarket pistons. If you use stock pistons, you have to modify them to adapt them to use locks. I believe Rocket has something that does this.

get ARP rod and head bolts, I always suggest crower rods. And yes I would put them in.
