How often do you change the fuel filter?

Well Im at 40x miles now and I was told to change it. Will this improve the cars performance. Just wondering.... but I think Im going to have it done this weekend. its like 70 bucks!

$70?? u need to give Len a call, or just go to autozone and get a filter from there.
If you car has any hesitation or stumbles during the rpm range, a fuel filter may help that, assuming your current filter is causing the fuel delivery problem. Other than that you probably wont notice a difference.

Like Dennis said, every 30k it's recommended. $70?? You gonna have the dealer rip you off? The filter costs about $20, maybe less and it's not hard to do. Do it yourself or have a friend help you.
I don't think you'll notice a difference in "performance". Car might feel smoother :shrugs: Using good premium fuel is important also.

Hmm, I've never changed mine, and I'm at about 33k...
Now, I haven't seen the engine bay in a month, and I don't have a helms with me, but correct me if I'm wrong, the fuel filter is located on the firewall in the engine bay right? Almost in the middle...

I just replaced mine @ 30k miles with one from NAPA.
No problems here.. Just that i get 180 miles to a tank..
BTW--> Open the gas cap before removing the filter, makes the removal of the old one a lil less messy(I guess it releases some built up pressure, I learned from my mistake on my crx gas every where)

I would replace mine but I dont want to fugg with any gas related items on my car. My last integra was lost to flames and I was injured. I am petrefied to mess with any fueld related items on the car now 
I wish it was as easy as replacing the air filter

Great tip. Also Opie had a great tip. Take off your gas cap to bleed some of that excess pressure. You don't want gasoline flying everywhere..

some people get away with it for a while. My civic has 245k miles and original owner never changed it Car started jerking and dying randomly because no gas getting to motor until i changed it

Im a Honda Tech and we do not change fuel filter at my dealership cuz they are life time now. From 95 and up. So you should not have to replace it unless you get water in your tank. If you do replace it, get one from Honda. ITR and a civic fuel filter are the same thing( 96 and up )
