US DC2 Type R VS US DC5 Type S
I did a search and couldn't find anything. I know the type r ran a mid 14 1/4 stock and the Type S runs a low 15 1/4 stock but head to head which car is the faster, better handling car and best bang for the buck. Is the I-VTEC that great or does it limit the ability to mod the car and get good HP gains. I know this is the Type R forum and you guys will be biased but bang for the buck which car has the most potential in handling and speed. Stock for stock who would win in a drag race and so on.
Thanks
Thanks
if your talkin stock vs stock.... ITR wins hands down unless the driver cant drive. The good thing about the RSX-S is that they respond to mods like crazy! 200whp with simple bolt ons and ECU reflash and from what I heard some RSXs can dip close to around 300whp with only 4lbs of boost on most turbo kits!!
this reminds me of the good ghey SHO days of car A vs car B...who will win....what if car A has nos, what if car B was running 60 lbs of boost
what if car C smashed into car A during a run with car B and car B blew up before the end of the race?
who wins then?

Both will loose badly on both the strip and the track to a bone-stock '00 Camaro SS, which can be had for ~$13,000 in excellent condition.
Why even bother with a ricermobile?

Could not put that in better words. They are both great cars. EVERYTHING has to do with what the owner wants to do. Thats what determines what car to buy.
If you want to be a dragstrip ***** go buy a 5.0 mustang and start hanginout with rednecks who fuel the cars with whisky
j/k

The K-series is really starting to show some serious potential, basic All motor kits are putting out 230+ whp, which is a bit of a challenge w/ the B18C5 and cost much more. Suspension wise ITR hands down, even a RSX w/ the Factory Performance Package wont hold a candle to to ITR in auto-x. The lack of LSD on the S sucks.
If both were priced equally I'd go with the R just b/c I think it looks better. If you were to build 2 230whp cars (one S and one R) and both had equal suspensions I think the over all prices would even out (given current market value of a 00-01 ITR), the R would take more money to make the power, but the S would take more for the suspension.
I used to have a Type S, btw

Yep, the K-series does have potential to make a lot of power, as well as a lot of design features I wish had been incorporated in the B-series.
Unfortunately, I still find it an entirely uninspiring motor to actually drive. The K feels sluggish, and has very dull responses. I finally got to experience one with a lightweight flywheel (which I thought would fix what I didn't like) and it still has worse throttle response than a 4-cylinder Camry. I don't know if it's the way the VTC is tuned or if it's the chain-drive for the camshafts, but something is making that motor feel like it's got an 80 lb. flywheel.

it's 2003 now, no point to get a 97 product, get rsx-s, it will make you feel better with its interior, and btw both cars are not meant to be drag race. get a mustang or something with big engine. !!

I don't agree with you. Yes, ITR is old tech, but it's more fun to drive. And stock for stock, ITR is faster, yes, the interior of Type S is nice and modern. But I still think if you are a real driver, you will like R better than S. I am not saying S is bad, R is just a more fun to drive car. S is more GT compare to R.

I have a 97 ITR and a buddy of mine has a 02 RSX-S and in the 1/4 mile mine is faster and all I have is a Mugen Twin-Loop and on his S, he has a AEM CAI,Spoon muffler, and a HP header and his car slowed down in the 1/4 mile. Stock he ran a 14.8 and now he cant get under 15s. The RSX-S may have more potential because they are detuned from the factory. Handling wise, the R is twice as good to me and alot stiffer. The interior is nice in the S being that it is a 02, but in 97 in Rs interior was also nice. I bought my R cuz the S was not enough for me.
