exhaust install....
hey... today i attempted to install my apex-i WS exhaust on my 94 LS. i thought this was gonna be a piece of cake. i was wrong. i couldnt get the nuts off the part where it connects to the cat. they are rusted beyond belief. so now i have to go get it done at a shop... does anybody know a rough figure of how much its gonna run me .. thanks ..
did u try using wd40 or liquid wrench?
hmmmm, u should disconnect the cat fromt he header and it will be alot easier to take off the cat to exhaust
it will also be alot easier to install the exhaust

yep i tried liquid wrench.... no luck. the nuts are just so corroded w/rust. also i think i have to reuse the bolts from the cat to the exhaust, so i dont wanna break em.....this sucks
wait a sec.... what if i disconnected the cat from the header, and removed my whole stock exhaust including the cat, then disconnect the cat from the stock exhaust while it is off the car (much easier) and bolt it on to the new exhaust. that would work i think... right?
best stuff for getting rusted or locked bolts off.
go to ford ask the parts dealer for some of the Ford brand rust penatrant, spray it on, watch it bubble and eat the rust, then put on impact wrench and go to town.
even the toughest bolts will come loose with that stuff.
I also feel that fords brake cleaner is the best on the market as well.

I never knew that stuff existed.
What I did was drop the whole stock exhaust system with the cat and sawed those bastards off.

well..i got the exhaust off tonight.... i removed it from the header back. i figured i would be able to get the nuts off with the cat off of the car, .. no luck.. they dont even resemble nuts anymore. everything from the new exhaust is on the car except for the last piece. now what do i do about these 3 nuts on the cat to the old exhaust. i just need to get the cat off. should i just cut the nuts off and drill new holes? should i take it to a shop and have them do it? help!!! thanks alot guys

I also ran into this problem when I was trying to install an A`PEXi WS onto an Accord
I took it to the shop and paid $40 for the guy to take care of the problem and install the new exhaust.
He used a torch, about 300 degrees. The bolts that were also rusted beyond belief came right off. The guy burnt his hand a little bit though..

yep.. the exhaust is on. I cut off the piping about 4 inches from the cat. then i brought the cat to a muffler shop and they torched off the bolts for 10$. then i just brough it home a bolted it up.. its amazing how easy some things can be with the right tools...
its exactly how i wanted it to sound....nice and deep at idle, yet noticable when your on it... sounds very nice IMO.. no popping, cracking... just nice deep sound....
