Default Rockford Fosgate Amp...

I have a RF 1001bD amp... it says it runs at 2 or 4 ohms... would it be safe to run it at 1ohm?

i had an rf amp it ran at 1 ohm for a couple of hours but it would overheat and shut off. it also shortens the life of the amp running it below what the manufacturer recommends.
