header turning gold?
i dont know much about headers other than my itr, but a guy at a shop told me that dc stainless steel headers turn gold if the motor is tuned instead of purple untuned, is this true? sorry if this info can be found somewhere else but im a lazyass. thanks
really thats a first.....i thought all stainless steel headers turn a goldish color.
i know my DTR FAB header, turned gold within the first 10mins of running.
Maybe the color range changes to purple when it runs lean, hense untuned. For example, if you have a fluid or oil on the header and you run the car hard, such as a finger print, it'll turn purple... maybe because the heat? Just a guess that's what he means.
supposedly if you hose the header down with WD-40 it will make it turn a pretty bronze colour. Sounds good to me! As far as purple.. hmm.. maybe if there's oil or something on the header.
i think the only thing that would change the colour would be crappy stainless...or running to lean but i think that would make it more gold.....and i recomend wearing gloves when installing it and cleaning with brake cleaner afterwards....if you get a finger print or grease on it it will look lioke ***........if its clean it will be the coolest looking thing youve ever seen
