oil filter
alright so i go to the acura dealer to pick up a oil filter and to my surprise they're manufactered by FRAM and says made in canada... so whats the difference from a 7 dollar FRAM oil filter from the dealer to the one at a regular auto parts store for 4-5 dollars?... is it just price and that your getting an OEM product?... think my next oil change i'll just get a FRAM filter from an auto parts store for a couple of bucks cheaper
you got the wrong honda filter. it should be blue and say "genuine honda part:made in japan" "honda motors ltd" etc...i have never ever gotten one from the dealer, whether honda or acura that had fram written on it. in fact, i have one sitting on my desk here and it doesn't say it anywhere. if that is what they are going to sell you, go get a wix filter from the auto parts store.
dealers like to pull **** sometimes, the honda dealer here uses pennzoil because of the deal the company has worked out. the mercedes dealer of the same owner also uses pennzoil. my dad was a bit upset when he found out that **** was put in his car and was going to be in there for 10k miles.

NOT TRUE.
Fram makes oil filter for Honda of North America. You cannot buy the OEM Made in Japan ones at US dealerships. All the ones you get will say "MADE IN CANADA", where Fram is located. The other company that makes oil filters for Honda of North America was Filtech but they been slowly phased out by Honda.
A better alternative:
I would recommend the Purolator PureOne oil filter(www.pureoil.com), the ones that comes in the blue housing. A much better alternative at $5-$6 then the Fram made Honda oil filters. The Purolator Premiums Plus filter at $3 a pop in a good buy also.

I just changed my oil this past weekend and noticed that they gave me a different oil filter at the dealer. My old one was short and fat, now it's longer and thinner. Supposedly this is the filter used for the RSX and 04 Civics... Something to do with increased oil pressure or something.

I did an oil change last weekend and still got the short fat type filter... I'm gonna go back and get a bunch of old ones to save...

Prludes shares the same filter as the Integra. I personally havn't bought the new skinner Integra filters from Honda but if the filter says MADE IN CANADA, then it's a FRAM.

I've been using an RSX filter for about a year now with no problems, its suppose to give you better oil pressure.I don't if it does, but the engine seems to run a little smoother with this filter.
yeah when i got mines from the dealer it was smaller than my FRAM that i got from kragen's... supposely the guy at the dealer said it was the new redesigned filter so don't be afraid that it's smaller than your last one
The new smaller filter that is starting to replace the older fatter oil filter, is still a fram, however, the new frams are a much better design, then the crappy older design. Also if you want the japanese ones ( the best ones) ask the dealer for an s2000 filter. Part # 15400-PCX-004.
