Default tuning crower 404's

I have a b18a with I/H/E and a jet ecu, i will be getting crower 404's soon and im curious of peoples setups with similar mods as mine...such as what are you using to get the best power out of these cams, either using cam gears, safc, or FPR.

Thanks

those cams are huge!!

you will need cam gears, fpr, safc or hondata.

the bigger the cam specs, the harder to tune.

I would recommend a little smaller cams with stock compression.....or bump the compression to 11.5 to 12.5. The cams are so big that the engine wont run good w/ stock compression.

Do you care about idle quality?? or is this a race motor?

its my daily driver....here's what im planning on doing internally, my goal is a 14.9 due to my weak funds but hey thats quick to me...

crower 404's
crower dual valve springs
P&P head and intake man.
arp rod bolts
eagle rods
b16a pistons
raised rev limit

these cams have a power band to 8200+ but im sure my r/s ratio wont really approve of this reving..unless you guys know of a way to get better r/s out of a b18a without having to decrease displacment....or whatever, yah i dont know **** i just like my integra :/

get the 403's. 404's are too big. In this case bigger is not better.

If you want to put in PCT(CTR) pistons in and make some compression then get 404's.

You need compreesion to "Power" through the lopey idle.
I used to have a 11-1 c/r ls w/ 403's and it ran good. The kid I eventually sold the cams to just had headwork and boltons and stock c/r and the car idles like ****. he runs about a 14.9.
A friend of mine has a 93 GS 'teg w/ LS block, crank, rods(shotpeened), USDM ITR pistons and rings, LS head P+P, 403's/springs/retainers, Jg Intake mainfold. He runs 14.0 with a 1st gen b16a J1 trans.

Hitting a 14.9 would not be hard at all with those cams. My friend in newer style integra LS, with no passenger seats, intake/open header, 20" slicks did a best of 14.41. Not exactly daily driveable like that, but he does high 14s on street tires with his exhaust hooked up.

The crower 403s would probably be a better cam for ya.

Give Crower a call and talk to Brian. He is the import specialist. I talked to him about my set up and he pointed me in the right direction. I also live in San Diego so it is nice to deal with a local company. The guys on H-T are probably right with the advice that they are giving you but it is always best to talk to the experts as well. Anyway, good luck with your ride.

You can use the 404 with stock compression. I had 405a's with stock comp. and the motor made 168@128. I shifted at 8500. My daily driven 91 CRX HF ran 13.4@103 on rr slicks 1.99 60'ft. Then i put 10.5:1 slugs in it and it made 178@138 the car ran 12.8@106

How did it idle? I also plan on going with the 404's (with stock compression and ECU). I am hoping the car will idle like stock (highly unlikely ) However I plan on using my SAFC2 for fuel tuning? Is this possible?

Look at Crower's website with the cam specs. You can always have them make you a cam that is just a little hotter than a type r profile on the non vtec lobe and then have a crazy big profile on the vtec lobe. If you are non vtec then you suffer since there is only one profile on the cam.
