4ws sway bar
What effect is a sway bar going to have on a 4th Gen 4ws?
I am in the process of overhauling my 92 4ws for Auto-X purposes and have been struggling to find any information. Any knowledgeable response would be greatly appreciated.

rear sway bar will usually make the car rotate (even more) around low speed corners. It will make it a little more "***-happy"/ twitchy in high speed corners. the key is to have the correct shock setting, camber setting, and spring rate.
basically it will reduce understeer and improve turn-in.
How all of this will be effected by 4WS? I cant tell you.

Actually I was looking more directly on information regarding what effect the sway bar is going to have on the 4ws system. My bad for lack of clarity in the question.
I think it be *** happy to no end.
The 4ws helps the car rotate/turn-in and gives a neutral balance when it would normally be understeering.
So, the addition of a rear s.bar would enhance this characteristic. Maybe too much.
If you know how to drive the 4WS, then I would just leave it.
Why do you want to put it on?? What was your thinking on it?
ps : I still dont think I answered your question, though. Dont take me for a expert on 4ws systems on Preludes, either. I am curious about how exactly it works though.

Yes it is a Prelude 4th gen 4ws, again, my fault for not paying attenion at "work" - grad school.
My interest is that a sway bar reduces body roll and reduces the slip angle. My understanding is that the bar is mounted to hang slightly below the rear axle, and tie them together with the plane of the floor pan sitting on even ground. Reduces the above mentioned handling flaws by tying the lower shock mounts together, effectively acting like the strut bar up top.
The steering mechanism in the back doesn't interefere with the direct path the swaybar would follow to brace the suspension, so there is no spacial interference. The steering mechanism, pivots the wheels about a vertical axis if the caster, camber and toe is set up right, and there fore shouldn't affect the effectiveness of the 4ws.
The I don't know about 4ws nuetralizing the car through a turn, at low speeds (less than 25 mph) the wheels turn 10 degrees counter to the front, to get the back end to come around faster, and over that the turn with the front 5 degrees to stabilize the car in high speed maneuvers.
I just was verifying that a rear sway bar would work or that someone else had tried it, but no one in multiple locations has given me any data

I also drive a 4WS and would like to add that if the engineers @ Honda put a sway bar on then it is clearly functional w/ 4WS. Further, earlier replys on this thread are totally correct it will make the rear a bit edgier which helps w/ oversteer, but in the end it all depends on the total system: what kind of suspension components have you changed, how are they adjusted etc...
My primary concern would be if the aftermarket sway bar would clear the 4WS system, if you look under the rear of the car the fact. bar makes some interesting bends to clear the 4WS.
