exhaust is the only thing I dont have now.. coz I want a really quiet exhaust... I used to have a SPOON street.. got rear ended... so its gone with my CIVIC... now I can't afford one anymore... its too expensive...
i just woudln't mess with an auto. i mean whats the best you can get with an auto anyway? all you have to do is floor it. why dont you save some money, and sell your auto LS, get a 5 spd LS, or even a GSR if possible...now we're talking!

i beg to dffer. if your gonna swap motors then i would save up money for the swap then buy parts for it. I saved money for my turbo and kept my car bone stock as far a perfomance parts. i mostly spent money on my suspension. depends on you man.

yeah I am in the same situation as you with the cursed ls/auto set up. I am getting out of it soon (GSR 5 sp swap) there really isn'y much you can do your car will still be slow with the auto trans. I have my exhaust/headers & intake are all aftermarket but my car is still slow. There is a place in Hamburg, NJ that deals with tweaking auto trans I think they are called level 5. But they are expensive...it is more effective to get a swap.
I dont understand why people try to mod an auto honda and to then just want a 5 speed. The changeover is timely and expensive swap. The $ you spend on the 5 speed changeover could go towards descent mods on a already manual car. Sell the car if you want more power and start with a good platform, good mods, and you will get a result

This is really the best advice, but still i turbo'ed my auto for a year before wasting the money to convert it to 5spd... I dunno what to tell u guys besides bolt ons do almost nothing for an auto

you can do anything to an auto that you can a motor with a manual. and there are kits that have beefed up torque-converters and trans. brakes for the b18a/b auto. by the way, some of the fastest cars in the world to go 1/4 mile are equipped with autos. hell, an F1 car has an auto with little paddles. i do prefer a manual, but saying that autos cannot be modded or not be fast is BS.
i am in your position right now... i have a 98 auto ls and i just purchased a s1 tranny (manual) i plan on swapping in the near future i have seen it done and it doesnt seem to costly...look around local junkyards, visit jdmshit.com and there are mutiple people here that have parts and such needed... good luck man

Well fact is you can make anythign fast, you can make a 11 second metro if you wanted, but the fact is not everyone has tons of $ to build a badass project. It is merely a matter of choice. I agree with you that yes you can modify th auto tranny to handle torque and make a reasonable amount of power, but ask yourself is it worth it? The motto i stand by i K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid. I only modify things on my car that i have to, i choose my parts wisely, ect... Why mess with things that you don't have to? ]
Bottom line is the more things that you mess with/modify the more problems you are prone to having, bottom line.

i can understand what your getting at. i prefer a manual to auto just because it is more driver involvment. but in terms of motor modifications, anything you do to a manual b18a/b you can do to a automatic b18a/b. hell, there are no mods on my car because i replace parts with honda oem. so, i know there will be no issues that affect something else.
i have an auto ls too...don't have the funds to get a new motor and if i try to sell it, i won't get much since it has a salvage title i'm sure...so i use it to my best(bracket race it
)
anyhow, just do basic bolt ons(i/h/e)...
)anyhow, just do basic bolt ons(i/h/e)...
just keep driving the LS the way it is.. save up ur money and a swap a GSR/ITR/Si 5 speed tranny into it and slap a VTEC head on it. that would be pretty sweet. way faster than your auto LS. later on add some bolts on's (intake, header and cat)
yeah getting the tranny swap is mad expensive you need to get so many parts besides the trans. plus you need to find a good shop (most important) but that cost $$$! I figured that getting the auto-to-manual swap is going to set you back (if you are not connected) at least 2k. I got the deal of the ******* century lined up for my teg...I am getting the engine swapped out with a conversion for less then 2k for the engine and trans and labor...I just need to provide the rest of the parts for the tranny swap and an ECU harness. That is the only reason why I did not sell my car to get a GSR otherwise I'd say ditch the LS auto and get a 5 speed teg because it will end up causing more pain then what it is worth!
Sweet *** JDM conversion how much did that set you back?

Yeah, but this ain't the CF, tex.
A big, torquey SBC isn't really penalized the same way a little, high-revving B18 is with an auto. But yes, anything can be made fast.
Oh and FYI, F1s do not have automatic trannies (no torque convertor). They use electronically actuated clutches and sequential gearboxes.

well, that is true, and i guess my experience with autos and performance is from growing up with big block and small block oldsmobile motors.
i was waiting for someone to catch the F1 comment. oh well, at least CART, they actually have to use a clutch and shifter.
i haven't been on CF in a while...it takes up too much time just being on OT and pissing off import-haters.

your car looks like a champ. my friend has a very similar situation as you, and did the same things you did (JDM front end) while driving an auto LS. he opted to turbo it, and it was fun as hell, but after a while, he got bored and swapped in a 5 speed. Which ever route you choose to take, good luck!
You did a nice job with your car JDMINTEG. Since you already put all that work into it you might as well get your engine swap. I am going to swap my LS auto to a manual. Frankly, it would be cheaper to get a new LS and sell this one but I don't have the time or patience to go through buy ANOTHER car let alone selling this one.
The swap costs about $3,000 at a private Acura mechanic here that I go to. I may just do it myself to save labor charges, dunno yet. Just do what you feel is best for yourself. If you are willing to earn the money and get the swap as opposed to just getting rid of the car then that is what you should do.

That's a keeper... even if its a trophy car
