Default rack and pinion

how do you know if it's going out?

you have powers steering i assume. check you belt. make sure its tight. does it make any noise? check under the car or look being the intake manifold and check from leaks in the boots. does the steering feel heavy? check your tires pressure. lots of things that might make it feel wierd. does it have slop in it, by that i mean, by turning the steering wheel will the wheels move right away?

well, i've got this clunking sound sometimes. sounds kinda like something is popping back into place.

They're not too hard to check out. Don't forget the outboard & inboard ones on the steering rack...
