My CRX was broken into, stereo, electronics, etc, STOLEN!
Okay, its been one long damn day. First of all, im 17 and a senior in high school. I live in the suburbs, about 30 minutes from downtown philly. I was down in the city today visiting my friend at Drexel. Car was parked at 31st and Baring from 3-9:30. When I came back at 9:30 the car was broken into. The passenger window was smashed, and all my audio stuff and electronics were stolen. Here's a list:
Panasonic CQ-DFX572U Headunit - cd/mp3
U.S. Acoustic USX 4065 Amp - 64wattx4
2 10" blauunkt subs in a Magnum box... box is really dirty/moldy
iPAQ 2210 Pocket PC w/ Piel Frama leather case
Socket Bluetooth GPS Reciever
When I was walking to my car I got this REALLY bad feeling in my stomach. I KNEW something happened. First thing i do is look in the trunk and notice my cargo thing is collapsed, which means the subs are gone. So of course I know everything is gone.
So Im standing on the other side of my car (away from the road) and call a friend on my cell phone. About 2 minutes go by since I first arrive and a tow truck pulls up next to my car, just in front. It was a really empty street, just lined with car and the didnt notice me at first. There were 2 or 3 guys in the truck. They notice me on the other side of the car and speed away, turning down the nearest road.
My obvious assumption is the came back to take the whole car. Makes sense cause they didnt take everything. the probably noticed my perfect interior, racing pedals, 17" rims, *cough* altezzas and clear corners *cough*, AEM decal, and didnt even know what could be under the hood.
Well if anything I have learned many lessons here. First of all, never put 17 inch rims, aftermarket lights, etc on your car. Never put decals on your car. Always take the faceplate off when you park your car (i realized i forgot this once i was in the city). Get a damn loud *** obnoxious sensitive alarm.
Im only 17.... add up that list of what was stolen... its over $1500 not taking into account all the time i put into it. I installed the entire stereo myself. I was extra careful not to show off the subs or amp. The subs were hiden under the cargo thing, and the amp was in the locking cubby. The only thing that screamed aftermarket stereo were my Kicker k6.2 component tweeters mounted in the door panels, but for some reason my front comps werent stolen (but then again, i thin they were coming back for the whole car).
Well, I called the philly police, this bitchy lady told me to call 911 to give them my location and everything. I do so. 911 lady was bitchy too. She told me the police would call my cell phone back?! The bitchy lady i talked to the first time called my cell phone and had me give here my info and the report. When I told her about the tow truck, she just said "that doesnt mean anything" in this bitchy tone. That was it. she gave me a police report number. The end.
I dont think this is covered with my insurance, and my mom told me there is a $1000 deductable anyway.
It was a fun 30 minute drive home, without music, wearing a tshirt, in the freezing cold cause my window was smashed.
Oh yeah, so keep your eyes out for those parts in the philly area. And tell your car friends to look out for those parts.
thanks

yep...tough lesson to learn. Faceplate is key, though. My cars have been broken into 3 times, all 3 on those occasions when i just happen to forget to remove the faceplate. Also, stickers to advertise to thieves = bad idea.
Damn they smashed your window couldnt even break in the proper way freakin rookies, that sucks man i hope they run into someone with a nice size caliber handgun, sorry about your loss i know how you feel....
Trust me I know exactly how that feels, about getting your things stolen, I came out of a movie theater and my whole car was stolen, which was a 94 accord with rims, carbon fiber hood, etc I got the whole car back except for the apm, subs and a pipe, oh yah and the cheap bastards even took the air freshner too. You got veryyyy luck you were outside, if you weren't for sure they would of taken the whole car without a doubt. I hate people who cant afford a car and have to steal someone elses stuff, sorry about your loss
Sorry for the loss, trust me i know how it feels
!!! But on the brighter side you still have your car, and if you have insurance you will be covered to by new things (that is if you have all the reciepts). The only thing that sucks is the hassle you now have to go through with your insurance and all that. Good luck, hope things turn out okay for your REX. OH, by the way, number one rule and you probably did this cause your young still, don't ever put stickers on the outside of your car, that is like a jackers wish list right their. Your listing everything that could be in your car that draws more attention. Stickers=badnews either way you look at it.

never f^ck with a mans car..that should be the rule of life..sorry to hear that bro..dont park your car in bad areas..i know what you are going through, but keep your head up..atleast you still have your car and f^ck the f^ckers who did that,if i lived in your area i would go on the hunt for those f^ckers..hehe
I had the same thing happen i walked toward my car and i see the speaker wires hanging from the back of my trunk and my drivers side window smashed. Fortunately my insurance covered it and they replaced it with 10X better stuff than what i had and the funny thing is i dont even want any of it. I want my CRXto be as light as possible So if any body wants 2 12" HX2 Rockford fosgates in a box and a HiFonics Zeus 400 amp let me now they have barely been used the box and amp are disconected and sitting in my room since i did my swap.
That seriously sucks. I live in Boston and it's no coincidence that I have no stickers or decals to draw unnecessary attention to it. Hopefully, thieves think it's just a DX with a drop, rims and an exhaust and nothing else. I always take the faceplate off the cd player and try not to blast the subwoofer when driving through an unknown part of the city if I plan on parking the car for an extended time.
I just thank God I have a driveway off the street so I don't have to park my car on the road every day...
