Where to get ZC parts?
Im about to buy this guys 90 crx hf with a DOHC ZC swap in it. When i save up some money, ill get a b16 or maybe a b18c swap, but that will be in like a year so ill just have to lightly mod the zc for now. Only problem is i usually dont see any sites that sell parts for the zc like intakes, headers, cams, pulleys, etc. Anybody know aood web site that sells aftermarket zc products?
Thanks
Thanks
You could probably use an intake made for a civic on the ZC. As for headers, you could use one's made for an 86-89 Integra (I'm guessing any d-series headers would fit though). PM Wil at Exospeed.com, I know that he has cams for the ZC motor. Honestly though, I would just save my money for the B-series swap.

Hey are ZC motors real that bad as far as motor swaps for crx's go? I've been research HT and people are really drawn down the middle, (atleast those that know what they are talking about) I was thinking of putting a ZC in one of my rex's and turbo charging it. I figured no vtec really won't matter if it's turbo'd. What do you think? I had a 99 SI with a drag turbo kit...once the kit was installed, VTEC really didn't play a big role anymore..i mean once the turbo spooled, you couldn't tell when VTEC engaged unless you looked at the tack.. the sheer power of the turbo really overcame the crossover.
And if it's a matter of vtec cams being ground better therefore allowing more air to enter and exit, couldn't you just get cams that do the same for the zc motor?
Just looking for some info, i'm really considering a ZC just because it's cheap, and easy install. The only negative to it is there isn't alot of aftermarket support for it.
Also if anyone knows, are the cylinder bore sizes on the ZC the same as the B16's? What about the rods, are they the same length? What's the differences between the B16 and zc besides the obvious vtec, hp, torque. I'm looking for specifics such as block heights, crankshafts, rods, pistons, compression. If you got links that has this info let me know!
thanks!

I've never owned a ZC, so I can't speak on the behalf of those who have, but I'd say, if the price is right, get the motor. As for the cams, check out Exospeed.com. They have ZC cams for sale (regrinds I think). The only thing the B16 and ZC share in common is that they are both 1.6L and DOHC. Other than that, the motors are very different. The ZC is probably more similar to a D16A6 (bottom-end wise) than any other motor.
the zc is a good engine, the problem is that if its here in america, sometime or another it was imported. if it was imported then it was used in a crx/civic and probably beat on. just dont beat the hell out of it and keep up with the maintenance and you will be fine. it is a direct bolt in for the hf, but use the computer from and 89 5speed integra. it has a more aggressive fuel map. then u have to relocate wires to the cam angle sensors, the sensor is still there, but just in a different spot. after u get it in and get some money saved, go to http://www.theoldone.com and buy some stuff. intake:crx exhaust:any d series will work

Headers - 88-91 Civic, do not use Integra ones, their downpipe is too long to fit on a Civic.</TD></TR></TABLE>
The best header combo would be the 86-89 Teg upper part of the manifold & the DP from an 88-91 civic/crx. As far as intake's, just get something for an 88-91 civic, you can use teh alternator pulley for a civic, exospeed sells cam regrind's. If you want boost just get a turbo kit for the EG civic, you may have to modify the piping slightly, but it shoudl work well. Everything else liek N2O is pretty much universal.

can't use upper part of integra and lower part of Civic/CRX - the integra, where they bolt together, is at a different angle toward the passenger side of the car - use Civic/CRX and grind the ports to match

Interesting, I have spoken w/ others in the past that said they had their's run like that, and theoretically that would seem to be the best. hmmm.
on me for bad info. I am running a header for an 88-91 civic/crx that i portmatched & it runs good.

I have a ZC and love it, I have driven a B16 in the same year and model too. Its nice and a bit faster but I get 10 miles to the gallon more, that is no small thing. I also run 87 octane gas with no knocking too. Runs like a strapped ape wit hjust a CAI, Header and 2.5 catback (header and catback are OBX) CAI is a noname. Have fun with it. I do. I have a 88-91 Civic D series header OBX and I really didn't need to really port it, gasket match was nearly perfect.
