Default $8000 turbo kit. Check out the waste gate placement. ;)

Not for a honda, but check out this turbo kit. It is for a VW 1.8T. http://www.wideopenturbo.com/turbokits.html

thats just an internal WG converted to external if i'm not mistaken. DSM guys do it all the time on their Gs (16, big16, 18 etc...) yo.

BTW those engines are nasty to build up. So much TQ its just silly. The head design is amazing.

Well the exhaust of the jetta comes out towards the firewall, so that doesn't leave much room for the wastegate there.

that wastegate setup works great.mine is that way and i have done several like it.it is one of the best ways to eliminate creep.the feed will be coming off of all four cylinders.you need to port the turbine housing though to fit the wastegate input size.

so would a wastegate placement like this one be more efficient than on the manifold?

hey whats up all. i am in the vw world, and that kit is wayyy overpriced! I have seen it in person. There stainless welds are some of the sloppiest i have ever seen. Very big dissapointment and the sad thing is their using a hack for the fueling. Vw ecu's are tough to modify. So they made the maf sensor 30% larger, which allowed them a 30% increase in injector size. really weird but it works sort of. Kit is no way near 8000. I was going to have them make a manifold for me, and they said 1500! total bs. luckily i found geoff over at full race and he should be helping me out with one of his amazing products.

theres actually room for that manifold "clutter" in the engine bay.. cause there isnt much room to begin with in that area of the bay.

Several problems with that. The port on that turbine housing is 25mm if he is lucky. He is probably using a 30-35mm wastegate valve. There is probably going to be boost creep/spikes. Also that tube leading to the wastegate is TOO long. That is excess volume that needs to be filled before the turbo will spool.

me too... I saw this at Waterfest... I heard rumor of a "big bad turbo kit" and walked around... and this guy was like "Yeah, this is the latest and greatest turbo kit around..> best quality you'll find" so I look at the **** and i'm like "Damn.. those are some junk welds... Then I ask him how much for a Tial 35mm and he says "oh, i'll give ya a great deal today... $349... I said I wanted a Tial, not an HKS and walked away...

Am I missing something, or where does the wastegate hook up to the exhaust before the turbine???

If some of the honda companies started making quality porducts for vw's, they could make a killing. There isn't anything worth a damn available for the 1.8t.
