Default Reliability of 92 Si 4WS

I have heard that the 4WS systems on the 4th gen ludes tend to be unreiable because of the extra mechanical parts. I am looking at buying one and wondering I will have trouble later on. What do you think?

I have a 92 Si 4WS. The 4WS is giving me some trouble. The light comes on whenever I drive my car....turn it off...and then start it up again within 10 minutes. If i let the car sit for longer than like 15 minutes..the light does not come on when I start it up again.

When the light comes on...the steering wheel turns to the left and the rear wheels do not lock...so the car gets squrrelly at higher speeds. It becomes a little dangerous sometimes.

I actually dropped my car off at the dealership TODAY!!! Hopefully they will fix it without costing me much. I will post back what they find.

93,000 miles on mine. I've had it since 76,000 and no problems to speak of.

i bought my 92 4ws with 40K and the car now has 142K on the chassis, and i've never had a problem that needed to be serviced on my car concerning the 4ws. I get the light frequently, but it works more often than not.

I am looking at this one 92 4ws with 56k on it. Do you think it should be ok with such low milege. Also, since the 4ws is electronic, who quickly does it respond. Is there a serious dfference in handling. Any one know the skidpad and slalom for the 4th gen 4ws ludes?

Thanks.

Check out my thread about doing a track event.

I also noticed that when the 4WS works...the car doesn't over-steer as much.
