today i just picked up my free dx engine that im gonan put in my si. the block has oily nasty all over it. how should i best go about clenaing this all up? any suggestions? how about a pressure washer? and also, what should i use to remove the old head gasket, i wanna do it right.. i might take some pictures, im also doing a mini me to this engine and i could do a write up.. i just need to get my **** together first..
i wouldnt spray water on your motor..some things start to rust..i have seen it many times..you wont catch me doin that ****..anyways first things first find out why there is so much **** on your motor..probably need to replace some seals and whatnot..good luck
i think it was a combination of sitting in mud for 3 days and maybe the old head gasket leaked, but im putting a new one on anyways.. thanks. can i use anythign else besised gasket scraper?
get a drill and buy a scuff pad little 1.5"-2" circular pad
go to any autoparts store its in the paint isle works real good and easy too
to clean a motor first try and remove as much of the thick layers with a scraper
then soak with some degreaser to soften and loosen the muck
get a wire brush and go to town
repeat several times until clean
then finish it off with some brake cleaner ...get the Next Dimension stuff Blue can
its alcohol based and evaporates in seconds
