question about the block number on B series motors!
hey I'm getting ready to buy a gsr block with no vin on it or papers, the guy says its legit and that I could check by the block number (the number underneith the B18C1 number), what does that number stand for, what does it tell us!
i believe if you give that number to a dealership they can tell you what year it is out of and who owned it and all that stuff. you could probably also check if it is a "hot" motor.
That's the engine serial #. I believe the first digit is the year - as follows... B18C1 was first available in '94, so its first digit would be 1. My '95 has first digit 2 since that's the 2nd year for that engine. Some time later ('98?) the blocks were required to carry the car's VIN along with the engine serial #...
