Default question about the block number on B series motors!

Hey I going to buy a B series block off some guy and he says he doesn't have any papers on the block but its legit, he told me I can run the block number which is the number under the B18C5 number to check if its legit or not, what does that number mean or stand for, or what does it tell us!

write down the block number (dont take the block just yet) and go to your nearest chp office and they will run the numbers and tell you right there.. and tell them before hand that you are buying a block from someone with no paperwork and you want to make sure its not stolen...<<<remember tell them this before they run the number...

w/o papers the motor is worth a lot less and may be warm to the touch.

the serial number is going to show up with CHP how?

I agree with Will though.

And the papers were stolen from inside his car? I dunno why but I find that unlikely. Unless it was green paper with presidents pictures on it or a registration for a vehicle or something why the hell would someone steal some papers?

if you get caught with it, good luck proving it's legit without papers, serial number of not. But no serial number would pretty much = possession of stolen property. IMO, if you buy something like that, you deserve jail time and have your car taken away.

Don't support the people who steal them and they wont steal anymore. Those who support them should get at least the same punishment imo.
