It's official: Australia is getting Type-S NOT Type-R Integra
I have a PDF doc from Honda Aus. public relations stating we are getting 147kW version of the new Integra despite them calling it a Type-R.
If anyone can put it up on a web page, I can email it to you. One of the funniest things in the doc is that it highlights a new feature available only on the Type-R: a 4 cup cup-holder. How depressing.
Also see this fairly detailed review of the new Integra as Australia gets:

I feel cheated by Honda calling the car a Type-R. If they had just called it a Type-S I wouldn't be so pissed.

Since its a normal production, is it the specs of a Type S? So I guess there is no production badges on these guys. Nice car though.
its badged officially as a typeR here in Australia so it will be numbered still.
Rumor has it that they will be "badged" as a type-R, but will not have any #'s on the R plaque.
We need to find this out.

yeap, it will be numbered, and the difference with the NA TypeS is this thing at least has an LSD, full JDM interior and also of course JDM typeR bodykit.
there going to number it...

ITR sells very good over in Melbourne and Sydney, dunno about Adelide. But this new one is a bomb, 1 dealer gets only 1 car a month (that is what they reckon).
actually i dont think it will be numbered, because its not limited production like the DC2. Nothing has been hand ported or assembled unlike the DC2. The one ive seen had a type-r badge on the center console but no number!! just like i t hought
1 car for each dealer a month? How much these tight *** dealers gonna charge. Extra 5g ontop off retail price?!?!?!
Rort!

The strange thing is the new Euro Civic type R has a red valve cover but the AUS RSX type R not. And they both have 200 HP.....

If you look closely on the pic with the interior... you can actually see a badge right under the hand brakes. But then again... like rlc said... it's a bloody Type-S. I don't think the internal's of this engine is good enough for a hardcore track meet. Do you guys know for sure if it still has the ITR suspension? From the sounds of it, it does. I think everything is JDM apart from the brembo's, rims and engine. But that's like 10k worth of mods gone! ARGH!
If it did retain the ITR's block with no brembo's and 17inch rims, it would still be good. oh wellz.. lets go test drive the sucker this weekend! gonna give the LSD a workout!

your getting confused......
thats the AUSDM Type-R which is really a Type-S, thats why the valve cover isnt red.

I agree. At least you guys get the LSD, JDM interior and body kit. If the type S came out as a type R like this in North America, I would actually think about getting it. I test drove a type S and while it didnt have the banshee scream of the type R, I apreciated the improved torque. The type S engine isnt bad by any means, it seems slower due to the honda/acura wanting more of a refined engine than before, plus VTC cuts down on the powerful kick of VTEC. People used to love the GS-R and the type S whoops it's ***. Plus, these cars arent meant to be drag raced anyway. As a counter arguement, you can never have more than enough power and I'm sure the 600 more rpms of redline would help tracking the car.
Hey does anyone know if it has sound insulation? I heard that the new type R's had sound insulation even the JDM ones.

IMHO considering the asking price (not confirmed) for the new DC5 it's a toss up between old and new, but we gotta look further down the track and determine which engine and chassis has more potential to be modified.
But I agree with most people, honda aust fugged up badly.
