Default ls to gsr swap questions

I know a guy in town thats having some money problems and would be willing to trade me engines with me giving a little cash on top. I have a 96 ls (obd2) he has a 95 gsr (obd1). How much of a pain in the neck is it to swap it out? Its pretty much a straight drop in right? Can I keep my ls tranny since I'll be going turbo anyways? What about obd situations, what kind do I have to worry about, like wiring harnesses or anything? I know there's a lot of questions in there but I wanna make a good decision as whether to do it or not. Hopefully thats experienced this can shed a lot of light on this. Thanks in advance.

youre going to either need his wiring harness or buy one, the swap should be straight forward, nothing really special you have to do, hes giving you cash and a more expensive motor? does it have problems?

Other way around, I'll give him cash plus my ls motor. We can probably just swap wiring harnesses too right? What about the tranny? Will there be fitment issues?

nope no fittamit issues.

but if your going to be running his ecu, then your going to have to either use the OBDII to OBDI harness, and use his engine harness. that will get you to obdI

Like skribblah sid, buy a obd2 to obd1 harness.......
It's the best solution and it's more powerful a obd1 than a obd2
