11:1 CR upped to 12:1??
Well my mind was set on EF-1 m22 all motor package for this winter/spring build, but I think I'm gonna break into the block as well and gain a little more power so I'm more confident of the 12 second pass this next season. Of course I'll be selling off my current JDM ITR valvetrain, cams, pistons and rods to help pay for this winter project though I was wondering what CR ratio would I have to run to adapt well with the m23 (basically the same as JUN3's) or m24's (Jun Killer Cams) yet keeping the car drivable on pump 92 octane gas? I was thinking about raising to 12.0:1 CR though would that be enough? Is 12.5:1 to much for daily 92 octaine (of course tuned)? I'm gonna use CP Pistons with the exact same OEM bore so they'll slide right into my block without having to bore any extra along with the EF-1 Rods. Is there any high worry about sleeve cracking at 12-12.5 CR? Any suggestions? Whats the highest, yet safest compression you can run on 92 pump gas? I run 13.9/14.0 on street tires now (stock JDM R motor), wanting to shave off at least a full second (12.9's) at the very minimum for next year....
I want 12's on street tires! Will this be possible?

im planning on the same set up in my 99dx coupe with a jdmb18c.....my best times on streets are the same as yours 13.9 to 14.0....but ive went neck and neck with a 13.7 second car from a roll with another person in my car so i dont know i guess i could run faster. Ive dynod 179.4hp with 128tq and my car weighs in the neighborhood of 2300 or so. Its a little lighter than yours (no sun roof). My friend was running 12.0:1 on his 2000 ex coupe with a b20 and his was untuned. He took the head off and the top of his pistons were all rusted.....91oct. Im sure if he had it tuned it wouldnt of been like that. Ive heard of people running 12.5:1 on pump gas so i dont see it being a problem.....im sure you will still get a ping here and there...but i say go for 12.0:1 how much hp is that .5 anyway
well I was thinking about bumping up to around 12:1 but I didn't know if thats too high for normal pump gas. Also wondering if its worth it to just use a OEM piston that could maybe get me up that high rather than using a performance piston?
with proper tuning, 12:1 should be fine on 92 octane. I am running 91 and still ok except at partial throttle when its 115 out and my A/C is on, when its below 90, its fine.
how high are you going to be reving? if your going to be reving to 9000 at most i sujest some acl bearings or pink, and arp rod bolts, with oem rods and pistons. any higher some aftermarket(of your choice)rods, and pistons are nice too. I like to combine the best of borth worlds...the way honda could of made it from the factory with some extra engineering.
planning on using a 12.5:1 forged piston with some sorta aftermarket rod (prolly eagle) and revving to 9-9500 rpms (where ever I make power too).
....and 92 octane is the highest we can get around here at least (Seattle Area).
