Default Leakdown test results of my 97 GSR

i had some work done about 2 weeks ago..and i wanted to do a leakdown on the motor...this motor has 95k miles on it..i was very suprised by the results on such a high milage motor..do u guys think something is wrong with these results

i am the second owner of the car...

Cyl #1 2.5%
Cyl #2 2.5%
Cyl #3 5%
Cyl #4 2.5%

the work that was done was: change timing belt, change cap & rotor, NGK cooper plugs, NGK wires, remove cruise control, valve adjustment..gonna remove my PS soon as "padawan" gets the kits in order

just wanna let you know that 95k isn't a lot of miles. there are a lot of people that buy hondas w/ 150k on them. Right now, my 94 integra ls has 178k and it still runs great

as for your question, i'm don't know much about that stuff

btw...where are you picking up your power steering removal kit from?

cyl #3 is questionable. all the rest look good. is it blowing from cylinder to cylinder? u may have a leaky headgasket.

what do u mean by blowing...i dont have a leaky headgasket..i looks all around the head and i dont see any oil or anything..i do think that i have a leaky oil pan gasket..but i will check again

Those #s are downright awesome! Especially for a motor with that kind of mileage. The 3rd cyl is probably a little higher because of the exhaust valves. The only way to check is to take off the manifold.

Obviously some people don't know what they're talking about. I once heard that 20% is considered acceptable by honda.

My Toyota Tacoma has a 26% and 22% leak through the exhaust valves in two of the cylinders and it runs great.

wow i must be doing good then i have 104k on my car and had 1% leakdown.

just because you dont see any fluids leaking doesnt mean your head gasket is good. i think you have 5% in cyl# 3 is because you head gasket isnt completly sealed and it could be blowing air from cylinder to cylinder. 5% is nothing to be concerned about though. oh yeah if you have 20% leakdown that is a big . that is not acceptable for a honda. the car may feel fine but it is sad inside

yeah I dont think 20% would be a good thing. Id go with the 6% figure to judge when its something to be concerned about.
