But the S2000 is a 6 speed. I think you meant a manual.
If he bogged at 7000 then he let off the gas or he didn't launch in first gear. lol

I don't really street race. Haven't had the need to clutch drop yet. I've done it on an empty street for fun a couple times. But that's about it.

feather the clutch if you do launch...otherwise you might be picking up your rearend in pieces. 5500 is fairly safe...you can push it more but I'm not sure how much damage that will do to the components involved

The S has a torque sensing differential in the stock rear end, there is no way to "shut it off".
Didn't you just get your S?? Maybe you should get a book about your car, (factory service manual) or read your owners manual. Also, I wouldn't be trying to burn out with the car just yet.. have you even owned a rear wheel drive car?
They can do some funny stuff when you floor it.......

Wow.. This sounds like a recipe for disaster. He has little experience driving a manual? If so maybe he should practice driving on a beater/5spd and then learn the characteristics of the S2k. That poor car..

On a stock s2k, here's what I did with different rear tires:
FK451 225's - 5200 RPM
Ecsta Supra 712 245's - 5500 RPM
S-02 225's - 6000 RPM
Victoracer V700 245's - 7200 RPM
Hope this helps you break your diff

It really depends on mods and tires. When I first ran my stock S2G on the street I dropped it at 6500 - 7000. But throw an intake and some sticky tires and you can launch up tp 8000 - 85000 as I did on my Nitto Drags.

Ya, after a while the diff will give, or the clutch, but if you can launch there and hold traction pretty well, then thats the place to launch regardless of what ya break.

No. When you spend 30k as opposed to 18k you're a lot more worried. When I had my Integra, I beat on it knowing it will break and it wouldn't be a big deal replacing parts.

Warranty's are running out on a lot of us now too. Of all my launches I've never had a problem and don't expect a problem. Doesn't hurt to be careful though.

You are a certified whacko.......
I don't care what kind of car you buy, BMW, Lotus, Ferrari.... I think you SHOULD be worried when you are going to willfully beat on your car that something *might* break.....
