i love my DC JDM 2.5" header, except that it sits too low and hits everything.

If by easier you mean that you don't have to modify the cat., keep in mind that a good percentage of the gains from the DC JDM 4-1 are due to it being used with a high-flow cat. or test-pipe. I would recommend running a new cat. on either header, regardless of the collector size. I would venture to say that, on a mild motor, the gains for the USDM and JDM 4-1 would be similar if both headers were paired with high-flow cats or test-pipes.

another reason, is that i have a 2 1/4 inch test pipe already that i was planning on using since it would bolt up to the usdm header and my stock piping

Dont bother with the USDM DC 4-1... unless your car is really low, you wont have much problems with the JDM model. Although im on stock height, the header doesnt really sit that low IMO as others say, and ive never scraped it over speedbumps etc... The JDM will also make more power and be better in the long run if you plan to further modify.
