Rev limit dropped to 6500???
I was autocrossing this weekend and on my 3rd run my rev limiter dropped from 8K to 6500. I thought it was because I was out of gas and my ecu changed it when an air pocket went through. After getting a full tank I went back and did some fun runs at the end of the day. On my first run it was fine till the end of the run when it dropped to 6500 again.
Any ideas on what is going on with my car would help.
TIA.

I had that happen when I went for a mountain run. I dunno what caused it. Are you getting a check engine light? I reset my ecu, and it hasn't happened since. If it came back, I would've gotten it checked out.
Yes i get the check eninge light as well. Should I reset the ecu? I drove the car to work today and no problems at all but then I only hit 8K 2 times and wasn't really pushing the car after that.

I would reset it (pull the ecu fuse in the distribution box under the hood for 10 minutes) and see what happens. Other people will say to get the code, fix what's wrong, then reset the ecu. Good luck
Check your oil level too... 6500 fuel cut generally means your VTEC is disabled. Can you tell if VTEC is engaging? If your oil pressure is too low, that be the reason. Check your oil and maybe make sure your VTEC solenoid is plugged in tightly. Do this while the ECU fuse is removed, then plug it back in after the 10 minutes and you should be fine unless something else is the cause.

exactly.....dropped revlimit means vtec disabled because of lack of oil ( 90 % of the time)

If you autoxed and took some fun runs, you may have just lost your motor. Check the oil add if necessary. if in a few weeks you don't spin a bearing you are coo. In the corners you prolly starved your motor for a seccond and the bearings may have ran dry. Hope not. Look at my motor pics below.
Thanks for the help guys. Yes my oil was low and so far so good. Got my oil changed and they said it was about a quart low. Seems to run fine so it looks like I got lucky.
