Default Piston rings or Valve seals

No smoke comes out of the exhaust, but after a while, it looks like I get an oily film on the rear of my car. THere is however a lot of smoke coming out of my breather hole. So I thought my piston rings are gone. Also, my idle is getting more and more shakey and the pressure readings on my V-AFC are more erratic. Before I used to be consistant -515mm/Hg of pressure. Now it varies more erraticaly from -470-513mm/Hg. Anyone know what it could be. I always thought it was blow-by, but some people are giving me 2nd thoughts. Oh yeah, I'm running a turboed F23

But from what I said, what does the problem seem like.

well as far as the rings go, it could be but since your vaccum readings are erratic and smoke comes out of the breather hole i would think has to with your valves seals.

Hmmm... And it causes the engine to be shakey? Sometimes it stalls even. Even when the exhaust doesn't smoke, I get an oily film on the back. Didn't know that valve seals can degrade an engine that much. Strange thing is, my gas mileage isn't severely worsened. =T

Erratic idle and stalling engine may be contributed to valve problems. A slighty bent or burnt valve can cause your idle to fluctuate hard and die at times. Just another thing to look into. A Leakdown test would show you were the problems lie.

It could be the valve seals due to the pressure in both the intake and exhaust from the turbo, but I would bet on rings/cylinders. Has the block been sleeved? If not, I would suspect the cylinders are out of round and tapered. If you have ever had detonation problems, the Honda rings are very thin and not very tolerant of detonation which tends to damage the rings and the ring lands on the pistons.

A leakdown test would be a good start. Depending on what that shows, consider tearing down the bottom end to see what kind of shape it's in. Any chance it's a seal on the turbo?

Start with a cheap fix, replace the PCV valve. How many miles???

I don't think replacing the PCV valve would solve anything...
