Default Water Pump test - O(honda)T tech

My friend has 95 Maxima, its just a comuter nothing modded. Right now it has 125k miles and is wondering if there is a way to "test" the water pump. He is not sure if the previous owner has changed it and is running, no abviouse temp problems but has to also change the tenioner pulley and wanted to kill a bird w/2 stones ( if needed ). TIA !

yeah thats what I told him, he's just strapped for $ right now - and this 3.0 lt is no honda I4 so hes not going to work on it himself - I've heard you can sqeeze the upper coolant hose while running then let loose causing a "surge" but havn't tried it. Obviously it would have to be cold.

Any other ides ? Thanx IA
