Car is dying when idle...
Hey guys, this just started happening to me today during my lunch break. When I'm sitting at a light or stop sign, the car idles around 800 or so for a few seconds, then slowly starts dropping down. It starts coughing like its trying to idle back up but it just keeps going down to around 200 rpm then cuts out. If I give it a lot of gas it revs up but once I let it idle again it starts bogging down again after a few seconds, then dies.
When I'm driving it drives perfectly and doesn't seem to have anything wrong. I'm running the AFC hack and the idle setting is -35%. I set it to -25% to add a little fuel, which didn't help, and I tried it at -40% which didn't help. Spark plugs are the NGKs which have no more than 5k miles on them.
The car was dyno tuned when I installed the turbo kit last December and hasn't had any idling issues until today. I will check the plugs when I get home tonight but after that I don't really know what to look for. Anyone have advice? This is my only car and it has to get me to work and back everyday.
P.S. I plan on getting Hondata ASAP but don't quite have the money yet.

try turning the a/c on for a temp fix it should cause the engine to idle higher than it normally would and it puts a slight strain on the motor so it might stop it from dropping.
was your car cold? mine did that when my car was cold.. i just turned on the blower until my car warmed up... then it went back to normal...
btw mine wasnt that severe though... didnt usually bounce up and down.
Try making an adjustment on your afc... like -40... shut your car down. reset the ecu then let it idle again... that always fixed my vafc hack problems... gl

this is the same exact thing that was happening to me, i mean to the tee, exactly. I ignored it and figured it was the stupid hack, i was wrong ( see my post about boosting happily for 1 year) i checked compression and one of my cylniders is focked......hope you dont have the same verdict...

hmm...I left if at the -40% setting when I went back into work and it idled fine on the way home. I'll probably do a compression check anyway, even though I did one last month.

I have an idle problem with my GRS-T also. Whenever I down shift, or back off the throttle, my idle will drop down to about 100-200 rpms and then go back up to around 800. It is still a little low and it stalls when I come to a stop light. I am running the hack with DSM 450's. I really hope it's not the compression, well actually I kinda do so I can justify rebuillding my engine hehe. Any other tips or things to look for?

Another thing, i unpluged the vacuum line form my bov and then the car idles fine, it goes up to about 1000rmp's as opposed to about 800. Then when I put it back on it drops again. I have the bov vacuum coming from the FPR, along with a boost gauge I just installed. Should I find another source for the BOV?
