Car stumbles during acceleration at 3K??? Help/Advice please
I have a 98 LS and it only seems to stumble in 3rd and 4th gear right at 3K while accelerating. I have new plugs and wires and new distributor cap & rotor. I was thinking it was ignition but everything is new. I do have the NGK BKR7E (colder plugs for nitrous) in there now but i don't think would hurt anything, could be wrong though. Besides that what else could it be? When i changed the cap and rotor i also pulled the fuse for the ECU to re-set it and the stumbling went away for about 2-3 weeks but now it is back
i didn't know you had to... i only changed the cap and rotor, not the whole distributor. Plus i had this problem before i put the new cap and rotor on.
DOH!
on me! Apparently I wasn't thinking clearly when I made that statement.
At any rate though...since you said you were having that problem before you changed that, maybe it is internally in the distributor. It may not be likely, but I have a friend with a 93 Accord, and he went through 3 distributors. We never did find out what kept causing it. But, I guess that is one more possibility. Only a new dizzy isn't cheap.
And with a new cap and rotor, you're halfway to a new one!

I just changed the fuel filter about 5,000 miles ago and i usually run 93 Octane. I sometimes do run fuel injector cleaner. Im a freak about keeping up on my car thats why this is bothering me so much. What could go wrong with the distributor itself internally? I know they are expensive which sucks. Did your friends honda accord have the same problem as me? lmk
Well, I'm not certain on what went wrong with my friends Accord. We kind of think it was his MSD igntion that caused it. At one point, the 8.5 mil wires were arcing to his aluminum intake tube!! How that happened is beyond me!! But, The only thing I can think of inside the dizzy is the coil. I don't know if that would cause your stumbling problem or not. And being that you say it's only at a certain RPM range...that leads me to believe that it is something electrical. I dunno...just a hunch I guess. What year is your car again ? Are you throwing any CEL ?
no CEL and it is a 1998. It is weird because it didn't do it at all today. It definetly has something to do with moisture outside, like if its a damp day or rainy day it will be at its worst. Its not that bad but it is noticable and it bugs me
