Default 00 GSR - Swapping in a 97 B18C5 - Need HELP!!!

Hi all,

I have a 00 GSR and i'm putting in a 97 B18C5, i was wondering if you could tell me what ecu i am supposed to use, and if there are any harnesses i would need. I'm completely lost. From what i hear, I can use the B18c5 ecu that came with the motor, but need an adapter for it to plug into my harness. Any info would be greatly appreciated. If there is another route I can take let me know.

The ecu i have is a OBD2b and the one that came with the motor is an obd2a.

Please help!
Thanks!

Well you could get a 1997 P73 Type R ecu, i am selling one for my friend, it will plug directly into your stock harness and work in conjunction with that motor, unless you plan on going OBD1

No it won't, his engine/body harness is for OBD2b, while the 97 P73 ECU is OBD2a, which have totally different plugs.

What he needs is a 00-01 P73 ITR ecu, then it will plug right up.

Default a little off topic but...

not to be honest abe or anything but isnt it illegal to swap an older engine into a newer car. not to say that all of my mods are illegal, but if the dot makes me take off my tananbe, i am not out that much. i guess it depends on where you live

did you read the post? He can't use the 97 ECU because his engine and chassis harness is for OBD2b used in 00-01 cars.
