Default Broken Toda header

I put on the Toda header a couple of weeks ago, and the other day I heard a rattling sound from beneath the car. Jacked the car up and found that the bracket thats bolts to the car had broken off

Pic of bracket:

I've driving around without this bracket for a while now and everything seems fine. Is there any point welding it back on to the header?? It doesn't seem to serve a purpose without breaking off

Those brackets always break on JDM 4-1 header. You'll be fine without it.

Mine broke partially off with my jdm 4-1, had it semi-repaired to its bent state (read: bolt put in gap and tack welded), then the bracket that goes to the block sheard in half. I'd say to the bracket and you'll be find without it.

kinda sucks that you pay so much for a bling header only to have the bracket break off.

it also sucks that the springs are not real and for 'race look' only.

I agree about the springs..... Serves no purpose at all. The bracket braking off seems more like a "construction flaw" to all JDM headers than bling on the Toda!? Besides of that the header is king. Great power midrange and top end rocks. But most important ground clearance is equal to stock. Roads can be pretty bumpy during winter in Norway. Not good with a lowered car

I think many JDM header for B18C do not come with that bracket anyways.

Don't agree with you here. The bracket that I broke off was JDM b18c and jdm 4-1.

I mean aftermarket header from JDM company. ie. the Spoon header did not have that bracket.

However, there is a small crack on one of the weld on my Spoon header, I wonder the crack have anything to do with the Spoon header didn't have that bracket.

Heh, beats mine. Driving down the road and had been suspecting the small rattle i had as that bracket. All of a sudden WHAP CHACHING WHAP, thing broke off, probably tapped the intermediate shaft, landed under the car and smacked itself off the bottom a few times. I did a Uturn to find out WTF had just happened, was happy to just find that thing on the road.

Yeah, mine broke off recently too. Went the longest time thinking my Carsound was making all the racket and it turned out to be that stupid bracket. I was going to weld it back on but I guess It's unnecessary.

At least the tech guys don't look at me like I'm trying to race a broken car now

take it to a muffler shop... are you running same amount of spring tension bolts on your exhaust parts as when it was stock?with less flexing things tend to break.

I know this thread is extremely old but I bought a Toda header for my jdm itr motor. My motor is missing the black bracket that attaches to the header bracket. I tried a b16a2 bracket but it's different and wont bolt up. My question is... is the bracket the same for usdm/jdm itr's/gsr's? I know you guys say that it's not needed but I still want it. Thanks!

So the springs are just for show ???? So that is not an expandable area?

.....the bracket on my toda header broke as well, before i sold it to pinhead.

.....if you run stiffer motor mounts, there's less chance that this will occur - but no harm done if it does break... just makes a dingalingaling noise is all.....

I just put my header on and couldnt find the other mount for it. So i just left if off, and the bracket is just hanging there. Will everything be alright that way.
