Default b16a turbo or ls turbo

im planning on going turbo on my 99 civic coupe, but i dunno should i go with a b16a turbo or a ls non-vtec turbo. im probably going with a t3 turbo because i think t3/t4 is alittle too big and beside i dont think imma push over 300 hp for a daily driven car. t3 spools up a lot quicker and my goal is to push around 210-250 hp at the wheel. at the moment, im probably just going to turbo it stock, but later imma built up the block. maybe resleeve it and get some rods then ill boost alittle more, but my question which is better for a turbo set up.

keep in mind that if i built a b16a block and resleeve(which will become a b18) and do the same for the(which will become a b20) , which will produce more power and is better.

How do U figure a sleeved b16 would be a b18? the difference between teh b16 and b18 is not only the stroke but also the deck height. now between a built b16 and a built LS what you are asking is is not so simply, U need to decide what u wanna acomplish. if u want a drag car or mostly low end then the 1.8 is better. it will make more tq. for top end and safely winding the motor out I would do the b16. it will make more power up top.

i know the deck height of the b16a is alittle shorter but if i resleeve the b16a to 84mm not only will i get more power than a b18, i can rev it even higher without worrying about the bad r/s that the b18 has. isnt that true?

also i dont want an all drag motor. i want something that is realible and is good for the track and is daily driven.

I don't understand for the life of me why so many people rely on other people to make decisions for them. Personal preference is what will answer this question for you, man. What do you want? More torque? better reliability? More displacement? Gotta research on your own; it's the absolute best way to know what you wanna do, and most importantly, HOW to do it.

torque is king for the streets, even though B16 gives same amount of output when boosted, but later LS can be bored to 2.0 and would own the b16. also you can drop in a vtec head later on.

Then you could put a deck plate on the b16, bore it to 1.8 and stroke it like a prostitute. Wow. We didnt know any of that.

I'll take my b16 and boost it later on down the road and still get 150,000-200,000 miles on it, thank you very much.

thats wat i was thinking if doing to my ls block if i choose to go ls turbo, bore it out to 85mm and make it a 2.0L. i think by doing that, that should make some good power.

now when you say you learned that most lsvtec swaps last about 20-30k, how bout if the ls block was resleeved with a solid deck and the rods was shotpeened? that would definitely make the motor stronger, so wouldnt that make it last longer than wat you estimated. ls/vtec is good when built rite, not if its built with stock internals.

Dammit! I have been searching for about a half hour for this one video that would help you make up your mind. Somebody had a video of a turbo LS integra vs. a CRX with a turbo B16. The LS owned!!

It was somebody that was a turbo-mafia member or something like that. The video was under one of the many topics that was about turbo b16 vs turbo b18. It is somewhere on this site!! Just search.

Are you sure about that?...

If it was Stan (pretty sure it was him) who raced a riced out silver CRX, the CRX was just a stock D16A6.

If it were me, I would just choose the LS.

While it was out of the car, I would rebuild it with AT LEAST some CP pistons, and Crower rods. If you don't have the money don't resleeve it.

You'd be good for 300hp/250tq Reliably tuned.
