Default my exhaust dilema

ok - hey everyone - i have a 94 teg RS with a n1 cat back exhaust. i bought it used and now the back of the can is rusting out. im guessing its from all the moisture that sits back there cuz of the angle. also my car has to sit outside so when it rains water will get in - and i live in FL so when it rains, it POURS.

my question is should i just buy a new muffler and have a shop weld it on to the existing cat back (muffler $200)? buy a BRAND new N1 cat back system ($420)?, or buy a completely different exhaust? greddy, HKS, skunk2, etc...

also theres nothing i dont like about the n1 - but is there another exhaust out there that will yield better gains for a reasonable price?

thanks - Brad

btw - the poll is open so people can put their imput on exhausts - please dont abuse

This is just my opinion... The SP has common problems and if you search enough (you can do that on your own)... You will know what I'm talking about.

If you know you aren't making too much power and just want a nice sounding muffler replacement, a magnaflow will do you right.

Im talking about common problems in the long run like 2-3 years from now.... when the exhaust (muffler or resonator) starts to deteriorate from the inside.

I added the Fujitsubo RM-01A. If you have the money, you should really look into this exhaust, it's nice. And it's all stainless steel so you wont have to worry about rusting anymore.

Heres a quote in a thread about the PROBLEMS with the SP line of exhausts...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by maxxdout &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">yeah, you know how it goes. 4 years down, resonator rattling and bothering me fairly bad. Question: Has anyone simply removed the resonator and had a section of 2.5 welded in its place?? If so is the sound unbearable? Dont have the cashflow right now to replace it so its either this or just go back to stock....which at this point i have no problem doing.

Anyones thoughts.......
TIA guys </TD></TR></TABLE>

I voted N1 muffler, but you should just get the axle back, connects to the piping you already have... not sure where they sell them but at least you know it will fit perfectly.

heres another testimonial... SP ...they look good but is not a long term wise investment.

you are better off with an axleback N1 and i know they have some around.... if not go to an exhaust shop, have them weld on flanges so you can bolt it on as an axleback.
