Blue Electroluminescent Gauge How To:
Since I've recieved a buttload of emails and PM's about the gauges and how to do them, I decided I'd post a quick little write up.
First off you gotta have 94+ gauges in your car or this write up is useless to you
Or if you're like me and have a 92-93.. convert it, I was one of the first to do that as well
Ok. You'll have to aquire some blue film called Acetate. You can get it online or for much cheaper at a local plastics shop (check out the phone book). It usually comes on a 2ft wide roll, and sells by the foot, so just get 1ft, it's plenty (1ftx2ft), cost me $5.
Take your gauges out of the dash (all of them).
For the Speedo/Tach:
Take off the tinted plastic, unscrew the black face and VERY carefully slide it around/off the needles. Cut a piece of acetate the size of the gauge face and trim it to the right shape. Use 2 layers and place them between the face and the flourescent light tubes and put back together.
For the Odometer/Gas/Temp./Clock/(and if you have, JDM CC):
When you take these apart you'll find that there's a small tinted piece of plastic covering eash of these. For each, cut a piece of acetate the size of the tinted plastic and replace the plastic with the Acetate in it's place (use 3 layers). Use an adhesive to glue the acetate to where the plastic was glued. Now put back together and enjoy your beautiful blue gauges!
Pictures are in the picture thread. I'll try tonight to get some pics that show the real blue color.. see if I can mess with the white balance on my digi cam.
