Default this one's for tinker219, cast to regular aluminum welds

well i make intake manifolds for VW's and uselower intake manifold , cut it and weld a base plate, i use regular filler WHEN needed but i try to just fuse teh 2 together, works liek a charm, the key is clean clean, wire brush then acetone, and when the tungsten gets dirty you gotta grind taht crap off PITA, the manifolds come out like honda/acura cause you guys already have short runner intake, anyways heres the pics

you cant see teh coins, but they are there LOL, i didnt bead blast them yet or clean teh brown gas residue,

after base plates are welded then grinded down

most weld from teh outside, but i prefer to weld them from the inside so the outside can look cleaner, had a little burn thru on teh top one

Not bad.

How do you cut the intake manifold so straight? I tried to make one of those, and I couldn't cut it very good with my bandsaw.

is there any way you could incorporate a "velocity stack" into your design ??

looks good though.

yeah, but honestly, i round off the edges to give it the same effect as a velocity stack, velocity stacks are also like 30$ each, think about it, thats all the velocity stack does is make it a very round transition from plenum to runner, i can achieve about 80% of that just grinding it off round

Hey, that looks GRRRREAT! I plan on a VERY snubby runner-d H22 manifold so I can have clearance for the turbo BEHIND the engine in the RWD Sol. Figure w/some 4-5 inch piping for the plenum, and Ill just weld that right onto the existing runners, which will of course be shortened ALOT. I think my Sol will be one of the most exotic street hondas ever built I just hope my intake manifold turns out as nicely as yours have evoeone

Great work man! You should fab up some for some b series motors, i got a few intake manifolds you could hack up! ls and b16. I'd take one if you made something up for us honda folk.
for the lazy!

them vw guys are all about the custom intake manifolds, i'm jealous.
Wish i still had the G60 Gti. was fun for the few days i drove it on 12psi!

teh first thread you quoted is my screen name there, the finished one is actually on my car, B18Flip on here can assure you how nice it is, i never thought there would be a market for these for honda/acuras cause you guys already have short runners, alhtough you can make em even "snubbier" in tinkers words, i wouldnt mind trying a honda/acura one, all i would do is teh same thing
weld a base plate
weld a plenum,
weld and machine any vacuum provisions, sensor fittings needed
make TB plate and fuse it all up!!!

thanks for the compliments

that is for a corssflow VW head, any 2.0 from 94 and up

BTW, i charge $400 for these to teh VW crowd, well worth every penny, they even go for more from teh big names, would that be obserd for the VTEC crowd?

thats TIG'ed no filler rod either, just fusing the 2 together, the welds are super strong, i use my neigbors mahcine shop wherethey make vaccum products wherethe build cylinders for making computer chips, navy stuff etc, all vacuum filled and he says taht fusing them is enough

$400 isn't bad to get a one of a kind piece, There will always be the people who would just opt for the proven jg manifold for $300 but then there are people like me who don't mine supporting other peoples talents and hobbies and giving the less popular a try! I'd definately be interested! "Snubbier" is better in my eyes.

like this one,
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=638076 home made, and i would be more than willing to buy this sucker if it was b series! hint hint! let me know if you need a manifold or two to hack up! I'll help with the parts if you can help w/ the manifold!
