HELP: Why is my motor running really hot after rebuilt??
I finally had the chance to install my motor this week after having some work done to it, but the only problem now is that the motor is running really hot. I didn't have this problem before. I had some type s pistons installed and also a brand new oem water pump and mugen thermostat. the radiator that I'm using is the c&r radiator.
First, I would make sure there is no air trapped in the cooling system. Then I would double check your themostat and radiator installs. Make sure the thermostat is triggering and there are no leaks anywhere in the system. Then I would check your Air/Fuel ratios wide-band O2 and work from there. Running lean makes an engine run hot...

What he said about the air in the system. Also I can't remember if the Thermostats in our cars are the type that will fit in backwards. If you did that there would be your problem. Also check the plug on the thermostat housing to make sure your fan is turning on. Also what temo thermostat did you put in there?

Thanks. I would probably drain the cooling system again this weekend and double check on the thermostat. The car runs fine for about 10-20 mins but after that it would start to get really hot, the fan would come on after 5-10 min of start up and I'm also running some rs machines cams so there could be a chance that i'm running lean.

what injectors are you running?
if you are too lean, you really should NOT drive your car around. if its too lean you can blow up your motor

I'm still running the stock injectors I think 270cc, its a 98 jdm motor.

I made 185 when stock, but I didn't have a wideband to hook to see the air/fuel ratio, I'm also running hondata with the type s base program.
