Default 305, or 350?

i just recently bought an 88 monte carlo ss, i need some help as to how i can tell whether there is a 305, or a 350 in it..the reason i am asking is because i raced one of my friends who has the exact same car, only his is tuned, and as far as i know, mine is bone stock, i beat him by a car and half...any suggestions?

if its the stock motor then you have a 305 c.i. there are two different versions the LG4 and L69. the L69 has a hydraulic cam from an L81 corvette engine, higher stall converter (1900rpm vs LG4's 1200-1500rpm) with all the little differences it makes about 30hp more.

L69 Specs:
Displacement: 305 cubic inches (5.0L)
Horsepower: 180@4800 RPM
Torque: 225@3200 RPM
Max RPM: 5500
Compression ratio: 9.5:1
Bore & Stroke: 3.74" x 3.48"
Pistons:
Rods:
Heads: Cast iron, 58cc
Head specs: 1.84"/1.5"
Camshaft: Hydraulic flat tappet
Cam specs: .404/.415 202/206 advertised: 320/320
Idle: 650 rpm

should run 15.9-16.1 in the 1/4 mile (stock)

i you are running a 5.0 then is a 305 , for 350 is a 5.7l
i use to have an iroc Z and before i swap the motor for a 5.7L LT1 350 i had the 305 .also at least on the camaro the 5.7L all came with tune port injection .
unless you converted to carbs
