Intake Mani. question
Im replacing my crappy butterfly gsr mani. with a nice new skunk2.
I need help in deciding the correct throttle body to match, as well as what to do with my AEM CAI spec for the GSR mani.?
Should i buy a JG edlebrock 65mm Type r or GSR throttle body? Its off of tornactive.com .. theyre both the same price, but im confused because its not a gsr manifold, its a type r style (skunk2)...so im assuming the type r one then?
and for a cai, what should i do? i guess the one i have now is crap!

im currently using my stock throttle body and its fine for now.. bigger is better
bigger also means you need a bigger intake as well.. remember that
im currently using a 99-00 si aem cai for my gsr swap in my hatch.. it worked fine w/ the stock intake manifold and also w/ the skunk2 IM i have now

i have heard that any 65mm throttle body is plenty big, and that anything bigger isnt worth it cuz then the skunk manifold will be smaller. im not positive but that is what my local shop said to get.
Ok, my friends run a skunk2 IM/jg's 65mm throttle body setup in their cars...so i guess i should get the type r spec throttle body to match the skunk2 mani.?
That sounds right. Isn't the Skunk2 IM just a Type-R ripoff, anyway? If so, you'll also be using a Type-R CAI. Should be the same as an LS CAI but with a larger bore.
Right...but tornactive.com offers 2...A GSR one, which i assume bolts to the GSR mani., and a Type R one, both are the same price. Since the skunk2 mani. is a type r design, i bought the type r throttle body...

Well..remember when you do the skunk2 IM install......you'll need a new intake manifold gasket, a new throttle body gasket..depending on what tb you go w/, itr throttle cable bracket, an itr throttle cable........and i recommend sticking w/ the oem itr throttle body...cant go wrong...and its OEM
But you can use your stock gsr throttle body as well..if you decide to do so, get a non-gsr throttle pulley.....oh yeah...get an itr cai, or itr comptech ice box

Bah now I need a itr throttle cable bracket and itr throttle cable? my friend didnt need either when he swapped in his skunk2 on his b16...
Is this because the GSR is a diff setup? :/ Where can i get these parts...
edit> Wouldnt skunk2 give me these parts if im upgrading to their mainfold?
edit2>the gaskets...do i order type r ones or GSR ones? i can order them from http://www.acurapartswholesale.com right?

the intake manifold gasket..get a GSR one.......as for the other parts.....you dont have to run itr bracket, cable, etc....but i just recommend it just because it looks cleaner and you dont have to zip tie the cable or whatever. The b16a manifold is different from the gsr.....so the throttle pulley position is *** backwards......jdmhondaparts used to have a good detailed description of the install and whats needed, but i think they got rid of it.....As for ordering those parts...there's a couple guys on here that works for honda/acura..and they gave me a pretty sweet deal. forgot who i contacted tho...i'll let you know if i find out who
Jeez man your help is much appreciated...dont you sleep?! I know i dont!
I need to find out where to order the gaskets...I might just go ahead and order the ITR parts as well...
BTW>>>> What should i do for an intake? I want to do an icebox...where and what should I buy?
Also, Im gona be purchasing a skunk2 p28 off u as soon as i get my credit card...
for me turning 18 las friday

you can order all those ITR parts but they arent needed and the isntallation can be done w/ out them.. as for it looking cleaner, i dont know.. some people will look at it and think you have a b16 i had a guy swear on his life i had a b16 under my hood till i showed him more proof it wasnt in fact a b16..

As usual you are wrong!! 70mm would give much better throttle response and you can also port match the manifold to fully optomize the size!!

If i were you I would port your stock TB to 64mm or 65mm, which ever is the limit, it would be cheaper and match the opening of the skunk manifold.
There was somebody on here porting TBs for 100 bucks flat.

Hmmm I bought an Skunk2 intake manifold for my '91 LS. Wasn't counting on buying a bunch of other parts. So you can fit the stock parts onto the intake manifold, but the TB bore would be different from that of the manifold? For the work to put it all together would it be easier to buy all new parts so it only has to be done once?
And where would you take the TB to to get it ported?

Yo Ben - I had the impression the ITR TB was the ideal TB in this situation - I thought the Skunk2 IM inlet guy was 62mm - identical to the ITR.
Naturally I am probably wrong - however, Id like to know fo sho. Thanks bud.

the inlet to the skunk2 manifold is 64mm. the stock GSR tb is 60mm in the front, not to sure if it tapers down to a 58 or not. but i would just get the stock one bored out to 64mm front and leave it 64mm in the back to. should match up perfect with the skunk2 manifold. we should be doing this to my friends 00 gsr pretty soon, ill let u know how it goes.
The Skunk2 IM inlet is slightly smaller than the JG TB after looking at it more closely.
There's also Justin's ITR TB laying around, so I'll match that one up and take a few pics and measurements for you.
I'll have to break out the calipers to see exactly how much.

Go to honda or acura and get the stock gasket for the intake manifold and usually when you buy a throttle body you get a gasket for it. I know STR gives you one when you get any of their sizes.
