Default ITR stock exhaust heat shield for gas tank?

Is there supposed to be a heat shield betweeen the pipe and the tank, where the muffler to b-pipe joint is? 98 USDM ITR.

That pipe/flange looks awful close to the tank, and there is no shielding on mine. Could have been removed by my R's idiot former owner.

TIA

Yep (if I'm thinking of the right place) but mine is removed because of exhaust rubbing issues. Mine has been gone for a few months, no problems to speak of

considering how hot the exhaust pipes can get, i would recommend atleast some thermo padding... while nothing will probably ever happen asides warm fuel, i suppose they did put a heat shield for a reason

its not cheap to R&D one of them things you know
