Took my Greddy Turbo'd GSR to the track today
Hi. Took it to the track today, I got the greddy 18g kit with the type 24v IC...not very happy with the numbers..the best I could do was 14.710 @ 97.87 MPH....I got the greddy kit and a 2.25" magnaflow exhaust only, Im using the greddy blue box and 310CC injectors RC and im running the 7.8 lbs of boost....I think my times should be a hell of alot better....What do u guys think and what should I do? I really want to get into the high 13's for now . thanks
what were your 60 ft times?
also.. what rpm are you lauching at??
any suspension mods??... what tires?
was the temperature hot outside??
was this your first time at the track?.. practice makes perfect!!

my friend had the drag kit on his LS with 9 PSI tuned and ran a best of 14.2, your times seem unbelievably high for what you have
60 ft = 2.476
2.43
2.6
Tried launching around 3-4k but nothing but wheel hop...then tried 2k and that was a little better but took a few secs to get power.
stock suspension
kumho tires
about 70-75 degreses

ya... lower ur tire pressure by just a hair to get better traction..... then try lauching higher... a little spin is fine.. you just dont want to drop out of the powerband..
i also think that a bigger exhaust would help!!!

welcome to the real world.
all of these "i ran a 13.5 @ 100mph with my 8 pounds of boost" are all fun to believe, but you must question the validity of the times.
get some slicks and it will help you out a lot. try FEATHERING the clutch at around 3-4...motor mounts are your friends, but you will just spin the tires instead of wheel hop...get some slicks and you will be happy with your time.
a 2.5 exhaust ( or even 3" ) wouldn't hurt

if you are serious, you will invest in a hondata (2b is fine) and head up to payn technologies in michigan and get that sucka tuned.
friend in my town:
civic si, greddy kit, same ic, 310ccs, 8 pounds of boost, slicks, 13.7@ i forget... he said biggest improvement...getting it tuned, night and day difference. wouldn't even do it again if he didn't go get it tuned...
not saying its a must, but just passing on the story.

Cmon man, why question the validity of a 100mph trap speed from 8PSI? A turbo GSR at 8PSI can easily pull over 250whp, which should put you well above 100mph traps.
If youre trapping @ 97mph, you definitely, definitely need to get that thing tuned. The blue box makes for extremely rich conditions.

1.) Get that car tuned. Definately (if you want to make the most power possible out of your setup, and also get your car running correctly.)
2.) A bigger exhaust (2.5"-3.0) will help you out quite a bit. You'd be surprised.
3.) You just really need to get back to the track and practice. Your times with that trap speed you posted should be in the low 14's or possibly high 13's with some improvements (tuning, etc).
4.) You should think highly of upgrading your suspension so you can succeed in putting all that power to the wheels. Motor mount inserts as well.
5.) Get some better tires (lower the front tire pressure to widen the base of the tire for a better launch).
6.) Practice, practice, practice. If you do all that you may be kicking around anywhere in the 13's. Depends on how serious you are and how good your tuner is.
I have a friend with a Turbo LS that ran a 14.0 @ 108mph. He couldn't hook up for **** no matter what he tried. He figured out he is going to need some better tires (drag radials or slicks). This way here he'll be in the 13's no problem. Because his trap speed is damn high( he is pushing around 300whp)

i think you should invest on some falken azenis or slicks
and as for the 3 inch i dont think it would help THAT much because your running such a low boost, you start to see real improvements with later piping when your pushing bigger boost numbers.
i have heard of traction bars that reduce wheel hop and what not anyone have info on this?

ill have to look around for a dyno tuner, the guy around here wanted 550 $$ for like 4 hours worth of tuning..isnt that way too much? also about the tires, its gettin to be winter soon...are the falken azenis any good in the winter too?
Yes guys the 60 ft will shave off a greater bit of that sad time, but the problem here is the mph 97 mph!!!! Ive seen itr's w/bolt ons trap 97
.
* Ditch that tiny exhuast and get a good 3" setup
* Get a EMS hondata, aem, ect... You'll need bigger injectors as well
Once youve made the power then you need to focus on the traction
* Good tires for street/Radials for track
* Suspension
