Default Data Logger necessary for hondas?

My friend suggest i get a data logger. He has a TT VR4. I tried explaining to him Honda's dont have much of a data logger system, nor is it really necessary for a N/A Car. I would understand a HIGH HP Turbo honda would benefit from one, but a n/a? I have never even seen one on a honda, with the exception of the Hondata system, to my knowledge Honda Ecu's dont even record any info except for the newer rsx cars. Is this true?

A datalogger comes in handy when you have a Wideband 02 so you can "street tune"

Otherwise it's not much help unless you're talking about suspension or other dataloggers.

He may have been referring to an OBD-2 scanner with enhanced sensor reading/datalogging capability.

They come in handy to ready ECT's, IAT's, Knock, injector PW's, O2 short- and long-term trim, etc. etc.

I haven't found one that works with OBD-1 cars, so that's one of my main motivations for switching to Hondata.
