my friend bought what he says is a 97 delsol si... but when i looked at it, it had the D16y8, i thought all the newer delsols came with the b16 in them... is thare w way to find out if its a realy si but the vin # if so can anyone tell me???

the si does come with the d16y8 its the del sol dohc vtec model that comes with the b16a

it's definitely an SI. a lot of ppl get confused when a del sol is an SI that it's the b16 eqipped one much like a 99-00 civic si. just remember any del sol SI is equivalent to any civic EX.

 

yes, the si is the d16, the b16 equiped del sol is the del sol vtec.
