Spoon Throttlebody
Been checking thru the archives and found the argument inconclusive. For the R owners out there with this mod. JUst wonder if there is any significant gains? Or is it just better throttle response? Thanks.
Better throttle response. That is why I am selling mine. I don't really see a point to upgrade from a stock itr to that. It is definately a good deal if you want a brand new OEM unit.
IMO is the best TB if you plan to stay with an OEM unit . but if not for less you can get a differnt type of TB that will give you better results and even bigger like 66/68mm or even 70/72mm depending on your build up ..
I was hoping that it would be worth it to install (better throttle response) but as i have a j's racing intake as well. I dont really see a point if power increases are insignificant. Might as well save the $$ for the quad throttlebody set up.
i dont understand why people spend hundreds of dollars on a whole new throttle body when any good machine shop can bore your stock one out to the same size as most aftermarket throttle bodys for a fraction of the cost and the would both perform the same......
the stock T/B can easily be bored out 4mm on the manifold side.....maybe even 5mm...

not if you compare it to a 70/72mm
RC does some good work on boring out 4mm over the stock size , last tim e i remember was around $ 200-225

If you do not already have a throttle body and you want to buy a brand new one complete with sensors, the spoon is a good idea but you already have an oem throttlebody in good working condition, then you can just bore it out.

problem with the spoon TB is dat everyone seems to get different results. Yours could be a result of the AEM though, why dont u experiment with the stock box?

Spoon TB is good for about 6Hp or so. Not enough for the Good Ole Butt Dyno to feel, but it is there.
It is Tapered designed so that will add to the Design of the J's racing Intake.
I think you could do worse than get a Spoon TB. ALTHOUGH trying to Justify the $$$ is a bit difficult for only 6 ponies.
IF you have a STOCK ITR TB Just have it over bored to 70mm (Outside Diameter and Taper it to say 65mm on the IM side. and you should have a good TB

62mm ID and they stated 63mm on the jdm . 67mm would be the OD

Im currently running the spoonTB on my gsr with the stock airbox/spoon filter deffintly felt a difference it was wise for me to change because I was looking to upgrade the Throtle body so I picked up a spoon one...brand new with the sensor's and bored to 70mm cant beat it in my opinion
The stock TB on gsr measures 60mm on the intake manifold side of the TB. The intake manifold is also different from the R. A spoon TB would be a good mod on the gsr. You can either swap out the gsr intake manifold for a ITR one or port match your stock intake manifold to the Spoon TB for a few extra ps
