Default Torque-Steer...what causes it??

I was talking with some friends about this last night. I thought that torque-steer is caused when the tires lose traction. They said that the tires do not have to break lose to expereince torque-steer.

Your thoughts??

Torque steer is the tendency for the car to want to pull to one side when you accelerate hard. It's not related to traction as far as I know. I believe the main cause of it is because of unequal length half shafts so the torque gets applied unevenly. Sompin like that.

i know with hondas that the right front tire is the one that does all (most) the work (driving). If you coast in first gear around 5k rpm and then u floor it.... you'll feel a dramatic pull to the right side. LSD/ATTS prevents this

From what I've read about it, ATTS doesn't help in a straight line. It's main function is to direct power to the outside wheel under hard cornering to help reduce understeer.

If the right side gets power, the car would feel as if it's pulling to the left, wouldn't it?

"Root causes for Torque Steer are:
• Nonsymmetric driveshaft angles, e.g. due to
o Nonsymmetric design of the vehicle, e.g. different driveshaft length
o Transient movement of the engine
o Tolerances in engine mounts
• Different driveshaft torques left to right
• Suspension geometry tolerances
• Unequal traction forces due to road surface (µ-Split) in combination with Kingpin Offset
