Intake cam gear is advanced and need to do valve adjustment on ITR motor
I have done valve adjustments many times while the gearing is at 0 or TDC. However, my intake cam gear is advanced several degrees, do you have to set this back to 0 before doing the valve adjustment or is it ok to perform the adjustment when timing is not at 0?
Really?, I thought having the gear advanced would have to stay that way so the valves don't hit.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Show me some diagrams to explain better, if possible?

As long as it's on the base circle, it's fine. This also applies for setting it to TDC. You don't need to be dead-on the mark...just close enough to keep the cam lobe off the followers.
Valve lash is valve lash. As long as you are adjusting the valves when they are on the heel of the cam, it would not matter if you were +20. Valve to piston clearance is another issue...
